SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, March 20, 2014—LeanForward, TriVita's meal program initiative, was officially launched in Mozambique, Africa. CEO Michael Ellison and wife, Susan, travelled to this war- and famine-ravaged country in Southeast Africa to officially activate the program's long-term promise: When you drink a Leanology® Shake, a meal will be provided to a child in Africa.
This promise has been secured through a partnership with two humanitarian aid groups—Joint Aid Management (JAM) and Life Outreach International (LOI)—who previously established operations and infrastructure for hundreds of school-based meal programs in Africa. With funding from LeanForward, JAM will distribute meals to children in need with every Leanology Shake purchase.
"The purpose behind LeanForward is to link balanced, nutritional meals with education, so children have the chance to reach their potential and break the chains of poverty," explains Ellison. To further encourage wellness and healthy development, the schools also provide clean water wells and programs that encourage physical activity.
